This is a small but expanding department. Our aim is to introduce the students to the world of work through vocational, practical Business courses. We have recently joined with the ICT department to become a joint Curriculum Area as all the courses and teachers within the departments have strengths within both subject areas.

Key Stage 4

At KS4 we have recently expanded from one group to 4 large groups. We introduced GCSE Business and Communications Systems last year for the first time and this is proving a very successful course. It complements GCSE ICT and OCR National ICT and provides the students with excellent practical skills which are essential in the business world today.

Key Stage 5

At KS5 the BTEC courses seem very popular and last year we passed our BTEC Risk Assessment with flying colours. We offer both Business and Travel and Tourism as a National Award and these courses, which are equivalent to one A’level, are proving very successful. We also offer A2 Applied Business in Year 13.

Exam Boards

·        We currently use AQA at KS4 for GCSE Business and Communication Systems

·        We use Edexcel for the BTEC National Award courses and the A2 Applied Business.
