The school has seven purpose built science laboratories all refurbished since 2002, teachers who between them have a full range of individual expertise and two laboratory technicians.   Science is taught in a spirit of enquiry, with the emphasis on investigation and on science in everyday situations.

The individual student's route through Science will depend on that individual's strengths and needs.  They will follow a common Balanced Science course at Key Stage 3.  At Key Stage 4, students will choose one of two routes; many will choose to study Dual Award Science, whilst others may decide that they wish to study all three sciences, Biology, Chemistry and Physics and gain three separate GCSEs (these are, again, modular courses).

Whichever course a student follows in Science, they will be given the opportunity to revisit topics, allowing for consolidation and further development.  In addition to the traditional three Sciences, students will also study aspects of other sciences e.g. astronomy and geology.

Beyond G.C.S.E., all students (who gain a B pass) are able to study for the three main Sciences at Advanced Level.   Each Science is taught as a modular course allowing students to collect credits towards their final Advanced Level grade in their chosen Science.
