I hope that you will find the articles on our web site useful and informative in deciding whether Formby High School is the appropriate school for your child. It is difficult to give a comprehensive picture of the life of a school in a few pages of a brochure. I would suggest that visiting us on Open Evening or a typical school day may be of considerable assistance to you.

We have a long tradition of academic excellence at this school and we intend to build on this in the future.  In addition to our success in subjects across the curriculum, we place a great emphasis on achievement in other aspects of school life - in sport, music, dance, drama and outdoor pursuits for example. Our success in national examinations has been recognized by the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) and we have received the School Achievement Award in three consecutive years.  The quality of sport, the arts and our extra-curricular programme has been endorsed by two major national awards – Artsmark and Sportsmark. In September 2002, we became part of a major Government initiative as a specialist arts college. In 2009 we were awarded High Performing Specialist Schools Status and as a result we now have a second specialism in science.  As well as providing a challenging and exciting education for young people we believe it is vital that our students are able to work in a safe, calm and caring environment and we spend much time and effort in ensuring that students are happy and feel cared for.  In my opinion, our pastoral system is second to none. 

The buildings of Formby High School are set in spacious grounds which look most attractive throughout the year.  It is a very pleasant and secure setting for students to enjoy at breaks and lunchtimes.  The main building is open to students at all times of the day and serves as a resource centre for individual study.  Students have very good access to a wide variety of activities to pursue when they are not in timetabled lessons.  They can take part in games practices, music and dance workshops, drama rehearsals, join clubs, attend extra lessons or simply work quietly in the Learning Resource Centre.
